Update on the “10·9” Case of Zion Church
May 1, 2026

Eighteen pastors and coworkers remain in detention in the “10·9” case of Zion Church, held on suspicion of “illegal use of information networks” at the Beihai First and Second Detention Centers in Guangxi. They have now been in custody for 205 days.

1. As of April 21, the detained pastors and coworkers received written notices of an extension of detention, from April 19 to June 18. The reason given: they may face a sentence of more than 10 years in prison. The investigating authority is the YinHai Branch of Beihai Public Security Bureau.
2. The detainees are experiencing serious health issues, even life-threatening conditions, and have not received adequate medical care; the hot weather, severe malnutrition, and poor living conditions further exacerbate their situation.
3. In late March, some sisters detained in the First Detention Center received Bibles. Due to continued suppression of the legal team, we are unable to obtain complete and timely information. We call for all sisters to be able to receive Bibles.
4. The communication rights of the detained pastors and coworkers are being severely violated: letters they send cannot reach their families, and letters or books sent by families are also not being received.

We strongly condemn all vile actions carried out in darkness, and we urge the authorities to respect the constitutional and legal rights that detainees are entitled to.

We pray that God continues to strengthen all detained pastors and coworkers with His mighty arm, granting them hearts of courage, love, and prudence.

We also earnestly pray that justice will flow like a mighty river and fairness like a rolling stream, and that we may soon see light and goodness prevail on this earth.
